Online Needle Book Workshop April

Join me for an evening of relaxing hand stitching, learn the essential skills of low tech quilt making and leave with a soft and tactile home for your needles and pins.  In this 2.5 hour zoom workshop we will hand piece our small fabric scraps to create a patchwork panel. Once layered with wadding and backing fabric we’ll add quilting stitches to hold it all together and finally bind the edges. You will then add felt ‘pages’ to turn it into a needle book.   

Once you have booked the workshop you can purchase an optional needle book kit in the shop for the discounted price of £12.00 + shipping, using a discount code in the confirmation email.  NB the kits ship from Spain so please order in plenty of time for the workshop date.

You can also join the workshop using your own materials - see the list of materials below which will also be included in the conformation email.

Additional tool requirements for all participants:

• Ruler
• Needles
• Pins
• Scissors
• Thread - I use a regular sewing thread (eg. 28 - 80wt cotton or poly) for piecing and a thicker thread such as Perle Cotton 8 or 12 wt, Sashiko thread or two or three strands of embroidery floss for quilting and binding but this is optional.
• Something to temporarily mark fabric  - i.e. water erasable fabric  marker, chalk, chalk pencil, Hera marker/butter knife etc

If you are using your own materials you will also need:

• Selection of small fabric scraps
•  A larger piece of fabric minimum 11 x 6.5 inches / 28 x 17 cm
• A piece of quilt wadding approx 9 x 4.5 inches / 23 x 12 cm [or use a piece of felt, felted jumper, old blanket, polyester fleece etc]
• Felt pages approx 4 x 8 inches / 10 x 20 cm [or use wool fabric, felted jumper, thick upholstery fabric, thick cotton jersey etc]
