Panama Nine Patch
The Nine Patch quilt is a traditional design made entirely from plant dyed line, cotton and silk - yes, even the black! The textiles encompass several years of plant dyeing from avocados and experiments in creating black in London, to Eucalyptus bark in Greece and coconut husks in the San Blas Islands of Panama. Constructed from a mix of hand and machine piecing and hand quilted with black perle cotton on our 32 day passage across the Pacific Ocean. It is a well travelled quilt, soft and textured, now ready for new adventures with you.
Measures approx 130 x 168 cm / 51 x 67 inches
If you would like to hang the quilt please include a note at checkout and I will add a complimentary hanging sleeve.
Quilt Care
Some plant dyed fabrics can be less colour and light fast than their chemical counterparts, even with a rigorous scouring and mordanting process. Any transience in these gently luminous colours is part of their beauty and any gradual fading will not detract from the integrity of the textile.
You can prolong the intensity of your plant dyed pieces by keeping them out of direct light. Should they need washing, hand wash with a neutral detergent in cool water and air dry.
